found an old notebook while looking for my camera. buncha drawings. india ink and colored pencil period i guess. so i am going to put all the good ones up here until while scanning and sprinkling magic dust on them.

this one didn't quite work out. been in the doldrums of late.  i have been trying to ride a bicycle lately, they say you never forget how. which is maybe true. but with polygears and new design (to me), iguess i never knew how. so it's slow.

what the hell, i just had to post this.it's about the supporters of the az hoo-hah in pinal county az where i was born my grandfather and father lived there. dad was in the air force so i grew up elsewhere - nowhere really - and i was born in the county but not casa grande but a nearby desert town, florence, where the state central prison is the biggest deal around.

anyway it reminded me of how strange the identities are that we drag around, stories of someone else who i was. no more substantial than who i am now. unless the gateless gate is open, and if it is, how would i know? when socrates said "know yourself" he was talking about the experience of a being a particular person, not the cognition that is included. know yourself means be yourself. "be", the golden verb.

this is my 2500th post to this thing. that's more than enough. it will hang around in cyberspace but it's time to move on and up. thanks for watching.

bout to put blog out to pasture - again - but iv'e got too much to do and not much to say at this now. onward to the new and unknown, guided by my trusty trust in the precise surprise that rivets me, or catatonic seizure in front of some new method of expression. 3D smellovision might work. the liquid and fresh airs moving through the highest mountain passes could do, crawling wounded on the ground in a world unraveled is another possibility. sometimes i feel a coward for not hoisting myself on my own petard, but doing as much as i do is what i do, so i'll walk down that warm dirt highway, barefoot, that smell of high rain on dust warm dust. to dust.

just finished diabetes rising by dan hurley. thought it would be crackpot medical but it turns out to be pretty lucid 50,000 foot view of diabetes, it's medical history, the science that has been about to "cure" it for 30 or so years, and the bio-neurological possibilities. but the statistics were astounding; we all know that type II is exploding but i had no idea of the rise in type I.

i might or might not be for the current health care legislation depending on if there a chance a simple one-payer idea were possible to pass. the 2 parties are the megawealthy and the rest. the animated cartoon,is a spectacle whose purpose is to distract.

morman's came by yesterday. three of them, looked a little like sci-fi because of their coats (still cold out) some kind of hi-tek garb. today Melvin the Jehovah's witness came by.

so i guess it is eime to wash the dishes and vacuum the 10,000 things.

back from long trip. saw a lot of people, thought a lot of rhings. noticed it was getting more difficult for me to travel, which of course makes me want to head for the road. we'll see. presently in the usual post-travel chaos, putting things away and remembering what i have to do that i haven't done - yet.

back in prescott az after week in santa fe. friend jeff doing very well, hope he has finished book by fisk so he can send it to obama. (name of book escapes me, will get into it later.) pleasant interlude with lisa and micheal. john and leah returned early to aville, leah not feeling well. several very snowy days, one evening went outside at what would have been sunset and saw the eeriest orange light. sister jane coming up tomorrow or monday and we will be in phoenix midweek.

i am using dave's mac pro laptop with verizon card in it which is educational, drops signal often and slow.

my insulin pump finally bit the dust yesterday morning, switching to lantus, should be interesting. did not get many pictures because of weather. happy to say my father is doing well at 92 years. happy birthday to his grandson and my nephew jonathon who i hope to see next week.

if i get my stuff ortganized i'll see if i can get a picture up.

i'm so dazed and confused it's getting to be the status quo. i've been on a 30 day run reorganizing the cave, tied to 3 computers i want to use files from, learning too many new software applications, not eating right, and no walks to lighten up.

the two tiered culture we have bumbled into is hopeless: the populist right is not wrong, and the "progressives" are oriented totally backwards, emulating the past institutions that are no longer functional. the political and economic institutions of the nation states hold on to the status quo with a vengeance, and the giant mega-persons (corporations) are colliding giants while underneath their klanking the experience of personal life dries up to machine-like interchanges of talking points.

is this cultural and personal evolution? yes. does that mean there is progress towards a teleological better world? no. evolution creates a plethora of possibilities, and some are dead ends.

the personal face to face sharing of experiences is the only thing that might redirect culture away from the insane and pathological. have you had any lately?

in this book there are some absolutely magical poetic sentences that i run across, they are really too much. i'll see if i can find one:

just saw avatar 3D which makes my yearly movie. i liked it. parts were very twiggy and barky, the organic messy fractal world of nature's heart, parts very hiTek with the best military money can buy - you know, good guys and bad guys - henri rousseau - beautifully executed if a little corny, think action movie. words like "corporate" and "insane" used. all the characters were prefab like tv, cartoons of attitudes we all know. but as a marker of presnt world, hard to beat even with or maybe because of being so generic.

not to even mention the 3d where they had a lot of un and so did i.
